A New Year's "Light" Show

After the magical days of Christmas holidays…when pine-scented boughs and cranberry candles perfumed the air and glittering lights whispered their grace-filled secrets into our happy hearts…decorating our spaces with joy and celebration…

after these magnificent days have passed and things have grown so very quiet and restful the steady, sure-footed march of the New Year alights on our doorstep, enters our homes and slides into our hearts.

It’s time…to renew and redirect our energy to the wonderful life we have imagined and make the changes that were placed on hold as we made merry and felt merry and loved the "merry" of the holidays.

Now, there is a NEW JOY that awaits us and it is born of reflection and inspiration and discipline…our New Year’s Resolutions.

Much has been said and advised about NYR’s…suggestions that we examine our lives, compiling a list of every change we can imagine…suggestions that we make NO resolutions and not place ourselves under that kind of stress... even a suggestion that we only try to improve ourselves by one percent in the category we identify as “most needed” or, even better, “most desired” and, thereby, let our accumulated steady, slow progress become its own source of motivation.

This morning in the quiet moments when I found myself awakening a different thought occurred to me.

I had been searching for a simple resolution…one that would be easy to hold onto and yet would change my perspective and this is what arrived in response to my request:

As you go through the day and encounter many moments…some relaxing and some difficult and challenging…as you go through the day, just take a moment and imagine how your Higher Self would respond to what is happening. Do not put any pressure on yourself to do what Higher Self would do. Only imagine it and take note.

This sounded wonderful to me…and it feels instinctively that just choosing to put myself in the place of imagining a Higher Response would do some subtle, behind-the-scene work for me even while I went busily about my day, impressing my consciousness with a more beautiful, more loving, more joyful way to navigate itand, most importantly, a way to be my own SOURCE of happiness and satisfaction.

And it actually sounds and feels quite practical, too, to become, on a continuing basis, the ANCHOR for my joy.

So I am going to give it a pop! This means I may pause a few seconds before I react and respond to what is going on…allowing myself the time and perspective I need to call up a Higher inspiration than what would automatically appear on my default button.

It will be very interesting to take this journey and, no doubt, it will have its own BRILLIANT LIGHT SHOW as I enter into this universe!

Enjoy !

It is incredibly simple how beautifully the universe works...when we understand what is available to us and waiting for our attention.

This simplicity masks a profound truth that must be recognized and acknowledged:

Everything...EVERY  thing  we can possibly imagine or dream of ALREADY exists and all that we have to do is have a deep knowingness and acceptance of this truth.

An inspirational message from The Daily Om tells us...

"When we ask the universe for something, the unspoken message is that what we want does not exist, and the universe accepts this as truth."*

                                   but

"When we affirm that we are fulfilled instead of articulating deficiencies, we are asserting that contentment is a natural and necessary element of human existence. "*

Now that's a pretty wonderful state of affairs.

But we have to really get this.

We need to know that we live in a friendly universe.
We need to know that we are loved beyond measure.
And we need to know that everything we want is already ours.

Enjoy!

The Unfolding

One of the most beautiful gifts we have in our lives is experiencing the natural flow of things.

The Unfolding.

The rhythm and music and pace of whatever it is that we are witnessing...experiencing...enjoying...and, most importantly, learning from.
This unfolding, if left untouched, is a work of art unto itself. It carries the truths of the universe, some easy to embrace, some more challenging. If we interrupt the unfolding, we lose our chance to take in the special meaning. If our egos try to influence the flow to move in our direction, we miss what is being presented to us.

A good reason to be an observer and a witness to life and, thereby, a receiver of information about the absolute perfection of the Divine Universe!

Look What's Waiting for You!

The gift of LOVE is one we give ourselves.

Our capacity to give generous love...unconditional love...the kind where we are concerned only for the welfare of the other personcomes, I think, after we have healed ourselves...

AFTER we have recognized our limiting beliefs and done the work needed to accept them, bless them as merely evidence of where we are at this point in time and then, release them.

Whatever is still haunting us (the thought that we are not good enough, the worry that we can't count on others, the fear we will never find the love we desire, for example) needs to be healed.

Once we recognize that our journey has been to learn that we are ALREADY  perfect (as evidenced in our Higher Selves) and that the pain and turmoil we have encountered are ONLY the price of the lessons we chose to learn...

Once we accept the work we agreed to do to learn those lessons and we do it….
it is then...at that point…

that the extraordinary gift of being able to GIVE generous, beautiful, heavenly-blessed, unconditional LOVE is possible.

And that's where OUR gift comes in...
the gift FOR US

because experiencing the giving of this kind of generous love is to travel to an almost unimaginable place where there are layers upon layers of grace and ease and beauty and contentment

The experiencing of THIS gift is..etherealsoothingthe most extravagant blessing

When, after our challenging work, we arrive at this moment and we are easily and effortlessly able to give that generous LOVE . . . we are ASTOUNDED to experience what is waiting FOR US.

That is why the giving of  GENEROUS LOVE  is the gift we give ourselves.

Perhaps THE signature gift of Christmas!

Is this gift on your Christmas list?

Dolce Far Niente

In the midst of the holiday season when so many preparations are being made…Christmas trees bedazzled with shimmering lights, ingredients assembled for an array of culinary pleasures, shopping excursions planned to catch the latest sales, spotlighting of porches and roofs with illusionary reindeer…
In the midst of all of this, does it seem strange that I would wish you Dolce Far Niente...The Sweetness of Doing Absolutely Nothing!

And yet, what more perfect time to just BE in the midst of all of these treasures?

Time moves so quickly now as we hasten to finish our self-appointed tasks for the holidays and, if we don’t pause to take in the ambiance and flavor and spirit of these moments, they will be gone before we know it. We will be left with crumbled Christmas wrappings to clean up, dishes to wash from the fabulous dinner we have prepared and an exhausted body for our reward.

So let’s imagine another dimension to our celebration.

I invite you (and myself as a reminder as I write this), to not miss a single breath of this breathtaking season.  To allow the brilliant red poinsettias to nourish and sustain us with their glorious color and powerful presence.  To honor the trees populating our landscape outside as they abide winter’s passing and keep their spring secrets warm inside their roots for us. To enjoy  delicately flavored herbal tea and gingerbread one sip and one small and succulent bite at a time as delicate snowflakes descend outside our windows.  To watch the faces of the young and young-at-heart as they embrace the magic of families gathering and the waves of joy layering the room as gifts expected (and surprising) are revealed.
Let us all fully embrace the beauty of this season, honor its festive and joyous rhythm and reverence the MAGNIFICENT MOMENTS being given to us!

Take Your Body out for a Walk

You know how it's sometimes difficult to carry through with all of  the wonderful ideas we have for how to be fit and healthy?

The problem, I think, is that sometimes we don't "feel" like doing  these great strategies...and  our "feelings" rule.

I'll bet you are sighing remembering all of the great promises you have made to yourself and then not followed through on.

Well, here's a way to REFRAME this challenge and it's one that might get you really moving.

Instead of waiting until your body "feels" like going for a walk, do something radically different...Take Your Body Out for a Walk.

This action presupposes that our consciousness does not have to fall prey to the moments of inertia and lack of motivation we sometimes experience.  It is built on the sound premise that  OUR  CONSCIOUSNESS  RULES and what we "decide"...GOES.

Here's the great thing about this approach.

After you take your body out for a walk a few times, it gets used to the new plan of action and starts to adapt .

"If I have to do this, I might as well find a way to make it easy."
   `
Then, a little later,

"This isn't so bad...the scenery is kind of interesting.  Oh, look, there's that frolicsome dog out again...I wonder if he'll come over so I can pet him."

After a while (and this may be hard to believe), your body will want to go out ALL ON ITS  OWN.

I experienced this fabulous transformation myself.

After I took  a delightful walk on the pier at Grand Haven (at Lake Michigan) and I returned home, the first thing my body wanted to do was go for another walk.  So I did.  And I loved it.

This approach can also work in other ways (and I bet you'll be able to come up with many original ideas.)

Here's yet another example of how it helped me.

Because I had a problem with dehydration I decided to make a real effort to drink more
water.

And it was difficult at first.

I could get a few sips in at a time but I wasn't making stellar progress.  Then someone told me that he drinks a liter or so of water within ten minutes of awakening.  That sounded like A LOT to me but I decided to give it a try.

Now I don't pull this off in ten minutes but within an hour or so of waking I can now drink a liter of water (or more) and I am loving it.

What's even better...my BODY is loving it.

I cannot believe the difference in how I feel when I get that  water into me.  It's like my cells have been waiting for me to stream it in so they could do their work.  I feel fantastic now because of drinking that water.

THESE  FABULOUS  CHANGES  ARE  ALL  DUE  TO:

my consciousness raising;

my belief that the messages that got me moving and drinking came from  the Divine Universe via other persons and circumstances;

and my great love of taking on new challenges.

It's astounding what important messages are just waiting for us to notice them and take action.

Taking your body out for a walk and giving it lots of water to drink could be one of the fastest ways to get yourself in top form!

Kudos to the Divine Universe waiting to give the gift of a MEMO meant  just for us!

The Best Christmas List of All

It's December and time for our Christmas to-do lists.

Some especially ambitious individuals have started on their lists many moons ago.  But for those of us who kick into high gear after Thanksgiving...it's time to get down.

And I bet you have LOADS OF ITEMS on your list:
buy a Christmas tree (and decorate it),
 shop for presents,
 plan a holiday party,
balance that budget so finances will work smoothly,
 try some new holiday recipes...

oh, and clean the house (including those jobs you've left undone but now have to do because out-of-towners will be staying with you).

I'm guessing you might be exhausted just thinking about these tasks and that's nothing compared to the EXHAUSTION you feel when you start trying to complete the tasks and keep on trying...even when you are
stressed
and tired...and in need of sleep and relaxation and nourishment

In other words, when the concept of BALANCE has gone completely out of your life.

Just yesterday I got   a wonderful idea  about this whole conundrum of how do you get the work done and avoid feeling STRESSED to the max.

And here it is.

This is probably going to sound radical to you, but after some reflection I am convinced it's the answer to this problem.

The first premise of this idea is:  Christmas (and all of the preparations that go into the holiday) should be fun.

Easy enough to say.  But, you may wonder, how can we have fun doing the Christmas to-do list when we are bone-tired...weary...dragging ourselves around?

The answer is not to do it.  DO NOT make yourself do the things on that list when you are not  IN YOUR POWER and have good energy, a  positive disposition and are ready to be in-the-flow.

Just DO NOT do that list of tasks when your chin is on the floor.

Instead (and here comes the next premise) do WHATEVER IT TAKES  to get you  back to your place of power.  This might mean taking a  nap, relaxing, having a lovely conversation, enjoying  nourishing food for your tired body (and eating it slowly and tasting and enjoying every bite).  WHATEVER IT TAKES.

Then... when you have reclaimed your power (whenever that is)...do something on the Christmas prep list.

You are probably thinking THIS WILL NEVER
WORK.  There won't be enough time.

But here's my thought:

If you've ever pushed yourself to do things when you DID NOT have the energy (physical, mental or emotional) to do them, then I am sure you know there is a hefty price tag on that delightful maneuver.

And I bet this is when you develop that cold or catch that flu or get so totally out-of-sorts that nobody wants to be around you.

Then...what good did it do to have the things on your list completed and you can't even appreciate what you have accomplished?

I know...I know...this concept will take some reframing of the way we usually tackle our tasks but consider this:

How wonderful would it be to actually enjoy all of the holiday preparations...to be in such a lovely space that  it felt like you were constantly accessing the joy of Christmas and what it represents?

How lovely also for all of those around you to engage with the happy, positive person you know you can be!

Wouldn't it be worth taking the leap to give this a try and then see how everything plays out?

And, by the way, this isn't just a wonderful plan for Christmas...I think it's the best way to engage life all year round.

So start making that special list of all of the wonderful things that will rejuvenate you and move you back into that DELIGHTFUL place of joy and power and make that one THE LIST you always remember!

The Hopi Drain Out, Universal Life Force and Clapping

I have read and reflected on the beauty of  Spirituality over the course of several years.

One day I noticed  that I was developing a new awareness and it pleased me on a very deep level.

I began to see a small energetic field around people which has been described as etheric energy

The field is clear and transparent and outlines the body.

The energy that I see usually only extends a couple of  inches or less from the body but sometimes I see a much larger etheric energy field around a person...for example, when I observe someone singing a spiritual song with great fervor.  And, occasionally, while walking, I will catch a glimpse of someone with a much larger energy field outlining his body.  (When this occurs, I never fail to wonder what beautiful Love must be at work in this person's life.)

After awhile I began to see etheric energy around trees (which I loved) and, later, even around  objects like mailbox posts (which delighted me even more).

I get quite a kick out of having this view of luminescence.  It feels like I am walking around in my own private  STAR TREK episode.

This on-going experience is a big part of my interest and delight in energetic exercises.
Here are three exercises I have learned about and want to share with you.

The  FIRST EXERCISE I learned about from my sister who told me about an ancient energy practice called The Hopi Drain Out which is used to move negative energy OUT of the body.  (I believe the Hopi are a tribe of ancient Indians.)  The concept sounded wonderful to me and I was very anxious to try it.

Here is how THE HOPI DRAIN OUT works.

Sit comfortably in a chair and place one hand on wherever in your body you are experiencing pain.  Point your other arm and hand to the floor; keep the palm open as you are now going to invite negative energy to leave your body.

You do this by visualizing the negative energy moving out your open palm to the floor in the form of sludge.

(I have found this to be an excellent visual  because when I practice this, it is very easy to sense the sludge folding over itself while it accumulates on the floor.  At times I can fill great areas of the room with the sludge in my imagination and it feels relieving to sense it moving out of my body.)

When you feel as if you have emptied this negative energy from your body, take the hand that was pointed to the floor and place it now on that same area of pain.  Then take the other arm and point your arm and fingers  straight up to the heavens, inviting Universal Life Force to fill the space that has been emptied in your body.

I have used this practice on many occasions with great success.

SECONDLY...also from my sister...is a BREATHING EXERCISE using Universal Life Force.  This is a very simple one.

Ask the Divine Universe for Universal Life Force to enter each of your cells on a long and easy inhale of breath, imagining a blazing white Light of protection and an enveloping green Light of health moving  all through your body.

Then, on a slow and complete exhale, send all the aches, pains, blockages and negativity out to the ends of the universe with infinite love and gratitude for this Divine Gift.

My sister uses this breathing exercise often during the day and it works beautifully to relieve any pain for her.

And, THIRD, from my chiropractor... here's a very succinct and direct action you can take when you feel lost in negative energy and decide to make a conscious choice to release it and fill yourself instead with Universal Life Force.

Simply CLAP your hands as you verbally express the choice, thereby notifying the Divine Universe that you are ready to release  the distress and rejuvenate your mind, body and emotions.

I particularly love this move...it feels so empowering!

It is my belief that everything physical that exists is expressing a spiritual reality and the real answer...and ONLY true answer...to a physical problem is to address it from a SPIRITUAL PERSPECTIVE

I believe that pain and distress occur because we have disconnected from pure Love and, when we attempt to reconnect to Love, we are reaching out to the Source of Love, the Divine Universe.

It is the Divine Universe which demonstrates its Unconditional Love for us through Creation and Creation expresses itself through ENERGY.

When we ask for the purity of Divine Loving Energy to fill our bodies (as in The Hopi Drain Out. the breathing exercise accessing Universal Life Force and the Clapping Notification we give to the Divine Universe),  we are reconnecting with Love and allowing our bodies to do the work of healing...something they are innately designed to do.

The  ENERGY of this glorious world...this magnificent source of empowerment...is ours for the asking.

It patiently awaits our Awareness and Attention so that we can move continuously toward Love,  heal ourselves and fulfill our spiritual destiny.
